A discontinued Gallery electric laundry center, common in SF closets and condo hallways.
The GCET1031FS is a Frigidaire Gallery electric laundry center: a washer and dryer built into one stacked cabinet. Frigidaire has discontinued it, but plenty of them remain in service, tucked into hallway closets across San Francisco flats and condos.
Because both appliances share one frame, a fault in one can look like a fault in the other. A wet floor might be the washer or the dryer’s condensation, and a tripped breaker could involve either half. Our Frigidaire laundry center repair page explains the stacked-unit approach in general.
The lower part handles water, the upper part handles heat and airflow, and the two share a cabinet, a power feed and often a single closet. That arrangement makes access tight. Before any repair we look at how the unit is installed: whether it sits level, whether the dryer exhaust run is clear, and whether the drain hose enters the standpipe correctly.
Typical calls for a unit of this age include a washer that will not drain, a dryer that runs but does not warm up, a door that does not register as shut, and noise from either drum.
A washer fault may appear as a drain code such as the one on the washer E2 page, while a blocked-exhaust warning for the dryer is explained on the dryer EF1 page. Write down the code and say which half showed it. We do not rely on a code alone; it points the diagnosis rather than finishing it.
Make sure the electric supply is on and the breaker has not tripped, that the water taps are open, and that the lint filter is clean. Pull the unit forward only if you can do so without straining hoses or the vent duct, and look for a crushed or sagging exhaust duct. Do not remove the back or top panels. If you smell burning, switch the breaker off and book.
Our Frigidaire laundry centers page lists the other laundry models we handle.
Tell us which half is misbehaving and whether the closet has a door that can be removed. We diagnose first, quote in writing, and repair only what you approve.
Gallery is a Frigidaire line name, and this unit belongs to it. It does not alter the safe order of checks: power, water, vent, and then a technician. The other stacked units on the site are listed under Frigidaire laundry centers, which covers the whole laundry family.
Yes, Frigidaire lists it as discontinued. Many are still working, so we check parts availability as part of the estimate.
It is an electric laundry center. A technician will still confirm what the closet is wired for.
Clear the lint screen and look for a kinked vent behind the unit. If both are fine, the heating side needs a proper diagnosis.
Usually, yes. Mention a narrow door or a stacked shelf at booking so the visit is planned around it.
