Error codeF1
ApplianceRange
Which ovens show F1
The code belongs to an older generation of Frigidaire cooking appliances, the ranges and wall ovens controlled by an electronic oven control (EOC). On the fault code sheet it reads as a control failure; the owner support guide labels it “Shorted Key Pad.” No control shows every code, and some F codes exist only on older units.
Four causes on the sheet
A shorted keypad
A corrupted internal checksum
A shorted control relay
A bad probe
Try this, in order
Switch off the electrical supply to the appliance and wait 30 seconds.
Turn the supply back on and see whether F1 returns.
If it returns, a technician examines the probe and its wiring, and puts in a new control when the fault stays.
A code by itself never proves which part has failed. For an appliance installed in the previous 30 days, the owner support guide recommends going back to whoever installed it.
Look at these too
F11: the shorted keypad code used by newer controls
F13: bad EEPROM identification, or a checksum error
Range repair in San Francisco
For a Frigidaire range or wall oven around the Bay Area, Frigidaire range repair is the overview and (415) 319-6371 is the number. Have F1, the model number and your power reset result ready.
Model compatibility: Frigidaire reuses codes across series and model years, so F1 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
Control failure: shorted keypad, corrupted internal checksum, shorted control relay or bad probe.
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
