Frigidaire Range F5 Error Code

VERIFIED

Error code F5
Appliance Range

Why F5 appears

The watchdog circuit was running when it ought to be off. F5 is a code that only older Frigidaire electronic oven controls (EOC) use.

What sets it off

  1. Someone selects Bake, Broil or Clean.
  2. The microprocessor tests whether the EOC relay operates.
  3. The relay fails that test, and F5 is displayed.

Technician checklist

  • A shorted keypad.
  • Pushbuttons that bind in the glass and stick.
  • If both are clear, a replacement EOC.

Same-era codes

An absent 60 Hz time base is F6. F7 is a watchdog fault on the lock relay instead. Lock motor switch positions are F8 / F9.

Frigidaire range repair, San Francisco and the Bay Area

For an older oven that shows F5, book through (415) 319-6371. Mention which cooking mode was chosen when it appeared and give the model number. The Frigidaire range repair page has more.

Model compatibility: Frigidaire reuses codes across series and model years, so F5 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.

Plain language

What this code means

F5 means the watchdog circuit was active when it should be disabled, after the EOC relay failed a test.

Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
